  • A New Monthly Weekend Ritual for Jakarta

There is something beautiful about a city when it slows down, even just for a moment.

In Jakarta, we are used to moving quickly. We rush from one meeting to another, from traffic to dinner, from weekday responsibilities to weekend plans. But every city needs a place where people can pause. A place where families can walk without hurry, friends can meet without needing a reservation, children can discover something new, and small local makers can be seen, heard, and celebrated.

That is the heart of The Local Market in SCBD.
Beginning as a new monthly format on the first weekend of each month, The Local Market will become more than an event. It will become a weekend ritual for the people of Jakarta. A living, breathing market in the middle of the city, where local stories, creativity, food, music, culture, and community come together in one place.

SCBD has always been known as one of Jakarta’s most iconic business districts. But on these weekends, it will carry a different kind of energy. Softer, warmer, more personal. The streets and open spaces will become a place for families, young people, residents, visitors, and curious passersby to come together. Not just to shop, but to connect.

The market will be built in zones, each with its own character. There will be a fresh produce and farmers zone, bringing people closer to the food they eat and the people who grow it. There will be artisans and craft makers, each bringing pieces made by hand, with patience, skill, and story. There will be fashion, home, wellness, vintage finds, children’s activities, music, food, and community corners. There will be space for foundations, pet adoption, workshops, performances, and small moments that make people smile.

This is what makes The Local Market different. It is not only about selling products. It is about creating a place where local brands can meet their customers face to face. Where artisans can explain their process. Where children can see that creativity is something real, not just something on a screen. Where food is not only eaten, but shared. Where music becomes part of the atmosphere. Where Jakarta feels a little more human.

Every month will bring something new. New makers, new stories, new workshops, new flavors, new sounds. But the feeling will remain the same. Warm, local, curated, and alive.

For the artisans, this market becomes a stage. Many of them work quietly behind the scenes, building their products with heart, often from small studios, homes, villages, and communities across Indonesia. The Local Market gives them a place in the center of the city, not hidden away, but proudly present. It reminds us that local is not small. Local is where identity begins.

For SCBD, this becomes a new kind of district experience. Not only a place for offices, towers, and weekday movement, but also a place where Jakarta can gather on the weekend. A place with rhythm. A place with memory. A place people will begin to look forward to every month.

For Jakarta, this becomes something we have been missing. A consistent community market that feels international in its format, but deeply Indonesian in its soul. A place where we celebrate what we make, what we grow, what we cook, what we play, what we teach, and what we share.

The Local Market in SCBD is not trying to be loud. It is trying to be meaningful.
It is the kind of place where a child might plant something for the first time. Where a mother might discover a new local brand she loves. Where a visitor might bring home something made by Indonesian hands. Where music plays softly in the background while people sit, eat, laugh, and stay longer than they planned.
And perhaps that is what makes a market special.
Not only the booths. Not only the products. Not only the program.
But the feeling that something is alive.

The feeling that the city belongs to its people again, even for one weekend.
The Local Market at SCBD is an invitation to come back to community. To celebrate local with pride. To meet the people behind the things we buy. To create a new monthly tradition in Jakarta that feels warm, thoughtful, and real.

Every first weekend of the month, SCBD will not only be a destination.
It will become a gathering place.
And slowly, month by month, The Local Market will become part of the city’s rhythm. A staple of Jakarta. A weekend people remember, return to, and bring others to.
Because in the end, the best markets are never just about commerce.
    They are about people.
